MATCHi skill level system


The MATCHi skill level system helps users find and participate in activities, matches and tournaments that matches their individual playing skill. Below is a summary of all levels to help identify the skill level.

Padel
1
Newcomer
You are new to padel, learning how to make contact with the ball and familiarizing yourself with the rules and scoring.
2
Beginner
You are working on consistently getting the ball over the net and into play, focusing on basic strokes.
3
Beginner +
You can sustain rallies with slower-paced shots without involving walls and are starting to play volleys at the net but struggle with overhead shots.
4
Intermediate -
You can rally with some consistency using ground strokes and volleys and handle slow, spin-free shots off the glass. You’re starting to understand positioning and footwork, and you can anticipate basic shots from your opponent.
5
Intermediate
You handle serves, returns, ground strokes, and volleys well, but need to improve overhead shots. You can recover many balls off the glass. Strategy and tactics are emerging in your game. You understand strengths and weaknesses but struggle to exploit them.
6
Intermediate +
Your overhead shots are sometimes effective and you are comfortable with glass bounces, but occasionally struggle with positioning for consistent shots. You have started to evaluate and improve your ratio of unforced errors during matches. You might compete in local tournaments.
7
Advanced
You understand all shots and refine them continually. Your defense is solid, and you identify weaknesses to force errors, yet consistency through a full match is a challenge. You might compete in higher level tournaments in your region.

Advanced +
You handle all aspects of the game effectively, applying consistent pressure. You take more risks, resulting in a balanced ratio of winners to unforced errors. You might compete in higher level tournaments nationally.

Semi-professional
You handle all shots of the game proficiently, consistently achieving more winners than unforced errors in every match. You could play national competitions with good results.

You are using a variety of shots, including smashes and dropshots, effectively and you can play backhand from the back of the court. You are comfortable with rallies, but occasionally struggle with positioning. You have started to evaluate and improve your ratio of unforced errors during matches. You might compete in local tournaments.
